Tzedek Chicago has formally joined a coalition of grassroots organizations from across the city that will demand a redirecting of this $95 million into Chicago’s most marginalized communities. Real community safety comes from investing in our communities, not increasing our funding to over-militarized police forces.
The #NoCopAcademy campaign was inagurated this week. On the second day of Rosh Hashanah, Friday, September 22, at 10:00 AM, Tzedek Chicago will hold a Press Conference/Call to Action on the 5th floor of Chicago City Hall (outside the Mayor’s office). There we will read a statement in support of the campaign, hear from local leaders and sound the shofar as a call to action to fight for a world where security is ensured through deeper investment and access to resources – not increased militarism and violence.
